PRESIDENT'S LETTER

Jenny Obermiller, President, SW Oregon
Shake It Up
For many, summer represents a lackadaisical period. Schools shut down and students are dismissed for summer break. Evenings seem to linger forever. A lot of us spend time participating in summer activities we love - from barbecues with friends to miniature (in my case) golfing excursions, to watching the Ems while eating a veggie boy at Civic Stadium.
For working professionals, however, the summer hiatuses we used to love growing up are hindered by the reality of the 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday daily grind.
Because of this reality, the Board of Directors of the Southwest Oregon Chapter has decided to
shake it up. As opposed to operating on summer AMA hiatus, we made the collective decision to continue hosting luncheons and networking events. While many non-profits take a break, we want to provide our members with ample opportunities to learn and have some fun.
In July, local marketing guru Liz Cawood will discuss how to "Go Green" in marketing through various sustainability ideas and tactics. We invite you to sign up for this luncheon on
www.eugemeama.com. And keep your eyes open for a networking event in August also.
As our chapter continues to thrive, the need for additional volunteers grows. We've elected three new positions this year: vice president of public relations and networking (Anne Marie Levis, Funk/Levis & Associates); co-vice presidents of communications (Dana Turell, CAWOOD and Kelly Colvin-Smith, Funk/Levis & Associates) and co-vice presidents of membership (Linda Apling, Moss Adams and Karen Ory, Harrang Long Gary Rudnick). They join 11 other talented board members. If you are interested in getting involved with one of our committees, please contact Christine Morgan, our new president elect, or me.
I am thrilled to begin my year as president of the Southwest Oregon Chapter. Our dynamic board, the quality programming and depth of our membership leads me to believe we're going to have a stellar year. Let's shake it up! I look forward to hearing from you.
- Jenny
PROMOTIONAL PHOTOS AT MONTHLY LUNCHEONS
For the last few lunches, you may have seen photographer and AMA-member Jon Myers, with Moonray Images, walking about during our networking time taking photos. The Communications committee would like to invite you to smile and have fun in some photos. We plan on using the photos to promote our chapter to current members and to potential members, to let them know what a great time we have at events. The photos would be published in our monthly eNews, the eBuzz, the local chapter website, and possibly other promotional materials as we see fit. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns about this great new addition to our chapter at ama@eugeneama.com.
